About Fiddlin Fluds
As the Fiddlin Fluds took shape in 2018, they haven't looked back as they continue to fine-tune their skills while providing entertainment to the public. Even though they musically perform together, learn a little more about each of them individually.
John
John was introduced to the violin during childhood that firmly rested on his shoulder until the end of high school. After high school, that violin moved to storage to rest for quite a while.
John did expand his understanding of music and performing it through taking piano lessons for a few years, but through much of John's adulthood his "music box" containing his musical knowledge and experiences through childhood was stored away. It was during 2016, though, that music box was re-opened when he learned about a monthly old-time jam get-together at a local schoolhouse.
During that time is when John first learned about fiddling that he fell in love with. After the years of not playing causing need to re-tune himself and his strings, while gaining this new skill of fiddling, he continued to improve with the mindset to "...never compare yourself to others, just play in the moment where you are...don't worry about sounding exactly like someone else."
Madelynn Rose
Madelynn Rose was 6 years old when her curiosity pulled her towards fiddling. She started trying it out and began to move that curiosity from just making sound to music. Of the fun developed from that fiddling music of hers, she discovered a larger piece of fun simply being "fun because I get to be together with family."
Madelynn Rose started taking violin lessons in 2018. After she improved from playing just 1 or 2 notes of a song with John she realized she really enjoys playing and often enjoys playing solo. Of the songs learned over the years it has led to her struggle of having "SO many favorite songs!" Of the many songs, though, 2 of the songs are called "Bear Creek" and "Fiddlers Dream."
The ability to find and sing the harmony of songs is a natural, God-given gift Madelynn Rose was blessed with. That makes it easy for her to blend her harmony tone with her sister's lead singing voice for a pleasant musical combination.
Caroline
Caroline was also 6 years old, or, correction, "I was 5 and a half," when she started playing violin that later began professional lessons during Summer 2019. As she sharpened her own musical skills, Caroline realized "it is fun to play fast" as she knows "I have to play with small amount of bow" to stick with that faster pace.
Determination is part of Caroline's personality. Her process of learning new songs to fiddle often lead to frustration, but that frustration ignites her determination. Caroline's determination then helps the frustration fade away as that new tune becomes more precise and in tune.
Apart from fiddling alone without singing (commonly known as "fiddle tunes"), when it comes to using her voice to perform music, Caroline is the Fiddlin Fluds lead singer. Some of her favorite songs to perform are "Bear Creek," "Rubber Dolly," and "Fisher's Hornpipe."
