Our Story

Fiddlin Fluds posed on porch positioned to play the fiddles

For the Fiddlin Fluds, their musical journey was planted long before the 2 youngest members of the Fluds trio were born.

John was in 3rd grade when he first held his own violin that he played until graduation. Afterwards, for years, that violin and its strings were set aside.

During his childhood, John spent a few years with the piano keys while the violin was collecting dust. This period did help strengthen this journey. He gained the ability to read musical notes that led towards the understanding of combining notes into a beautiful song.

While growing up, John never knew about fiddling, but let's fast forward. Many years later, during John's adulthood, was when he first heard the term "fiddling." It was the strings of that fiddling awareness that pulled him back to his violin. That patient violin that was set aside for those many years was then picked back up as a fiddle. To John, doing so was one of the best things that ever happened, but then came his daughters into his life.

As John's 2 daughters were growing up they saw him playing and they began to catch on to the music they were hearing. This is when their God-given musical gifts began to appear.

The oldest daughter was 6 years old when "Daddy" began to fill their musical curiosity. Over the years, as the girls began to perform more of their own music together, they began to naturally create their own harmony. As they sing together and play their fiddles with John, the combined sounds evolve into a tune.

"It’s our family music time and it’s beautiful to play with your own children. I have to say they don’t realize what it does for me."
"Foggy Mountain Top" performance

As it started with a father and his 2 daughters playing tunes in their kitchen, after Christmas in December 2017, it began to grow to them playing tunes with a band of friends. From there, the Fiddlin Fluds' calendar began displaying when their next performance would take place.

The 2 younger Fiddlin Fluds were the big piece of this musical journey puzzle that developed the clearer image of the destination target. From the farmers markets to local churches and from birthday parties to public venues the Fiddlin Fluds enjoy performing for the communities and sharing part of their music journey with others.
